AO3 Collection | Tagset

Past Imperfect, Future Unknown is a fanfiction and fanart exchange for time travel/time loop tropes. Matching is done on characters, tropes, and fanwork medium for both offers and requests.

Rules

Nominations

Any fandom can be nominated. Every nomination is limited to:

• Up to 6 fandoms
• Up to 10 characters per fandom
• Up to 10 time-travel-related tropes.

Singular characters may be nominated as usual. Relationships may be nominated as well, using the following formats:

• Group: Character A/Character B for sexual/romantic relationships
• Group: Character A & Character B for platonic relationships.

All crossovers (relationships only, formatted as Group: Character A (Fandom A)/Character B (Fandom B)) should be nominated under Crossover Fandom, and all original characters and relationships should be nominated under Original Work.

When nominating tropes, please check out the tagset first to see if it already exists!

Signups

This year, participants may request fic and/or art.

You may request between 3 and 10 fandoms, with between 1-10 characters per fandom and 1-20 additional tags. You must offer between 4 and 10 fandoms, 1-10 characters per fandom and 1-20 additional tags. Although you may repeat fandoms across requests/offers for more characters or additional tags, you must have at least 3/4 fandoms (for requests/offers respectively) that are unique.

Dear Creator letters and the Optional Details box are places for providing additional suggestions for your creator. They are entirely optional but may be useful to provide extra details on your likes/dislikes.

Do Not Wants should be used for things you absolutely do not wish to receive. They must be respected if in the Optional Details box.

Assignments

The minimum requirements for assignments are:

• Fic - You must submit a complete work with a minimum of 1,000 words which stands on its own.
• Art - You must submit a complete work of art, at minimum a clean sketch on unlined paper.

Treats are allowed and have no minimum requirements; they can be posted directly to the AO3 collection at any time.

If you believe you will be unable to complete your assignment by the deadline, you can default from your Assignments page. Please do this before the assignment deadline (Jan 26). You will be penalized if you default after the deadline, fail to turn in your assignment, or have not contacted the mod account beforehand.

All pinch hits will be posted to the community and will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Is the matching AND or OR matching?

The matching is OR; that is, you match on one fandom, one character, one medium, and one trope/freeform tag.

Sorry for the stupid question, but regarding nominations for relationships, are we supposed to enter that format ("Group: Character A/Character B" etc.) in one of the "Character" text boxes under each fandom? This is my first time trying to nominate anything, so I wasn't sure.

Yes, that's correct! You can use the Group: -prefix to nominate groups of characters in the Character field.

The list of additional tags (262) is so unwieldy but with so many amazing possibilities, would it be okay to use "any additional tag" and then just exclude one or two things in the "optional details"?
(For context: I'd be fine with almost anything, including very dark fic, but am not into incest and non-con, personally. More power to fans/shippers who do enjoy it, it's just not for me.)

If it's just a few tags, then yes, that's fine! I can manually check to make sure you aren't matched to those tags.
